Red Lights: Stop and Address Immediately
A red battery light can mean the alternator, belt, or wiring is failing and the car may soon stall. An oil-pressure light risks serious engine damage. A temperature warning means the engine is overheating, while a brake warning may indicate low fluid or a brake-system fault. Pull over safely rather than continuing a long drive.
Yellow or Orange Lights: Get It Checked Soon
- Check engine light: a loose fuel cap, sensor, emissions, or engine fault
- ABS light: the anti-lock braking function may be disabled
- Tyre-pressure light: one or more tyres may be under-inflated
- Traction-control or TPMS light: often related to wheel sensors or system faults
