Needing a jump start on Hamdan Street is stressful. It is one of the busiest commercial streets in central Abu Dhabi, lined with shops, banks, offices and apartment buildings, and a car that will not start in a roadside bay or a packed car park quickly becomes a problem for you and everyone around you.
The right response is simple: make the situation safe, give the technician clear information, and then find out whether the battery just needs a boost or whether something else is wrong.
This guide covers each step, with practical notes on the street's parking and traffic.
Hamdan Street at a Glance
Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street, usually called Hamdan Street, runs for around four kilometres through the heart of the city from the Al Hosn area towards Al Zahiyah, parallel to the Corniche. Landmarks along it include Hamdan Centre, one of the city's oldest malls, Liwa Centre and the World Trade Center area.
Parking is mostly paid public bays on the street and in side roads, building basements, and public multi-storey car parks, including ones behind Liwa Centre and behind Bahrain Bank. Traffic is heavy for much of the day, and roadside bays sit right next to moving lanes.
That mix shapes how a breakdown should be handled. A dead battery in a quiet villa driveway is an inconvenience; the same problem in a bay on Hamdan Street needs a little more care.
Step 1: Make It Safe
- If the car stalls in a traffic lane, switch on the hazard lights straight away. If it is safe and possible, move it out of the lane into a bay.
